Meg’s Daily Habits

I’ve been talking a lot about habits lately—how to build them and make them stick. So, I thought I’d share some of my daily habits I’ve been consciously developing. The incredible results I’ve experienced by incorporating these small but powerful actions into my day. I understand that not everyone has endless time, so I’ve carefully woven these habits into a manageable routine that fits even the busiest schedules

Every morning, I start with a lemon shot on an empty stomach, topped with Ceylon cinnamon. While sipping black coffee, I take spirulina or chlorophyll and do red light therapy. After my shower, I apply my homemade castor oil mix and magnesium spray. Then, I meditate using Joe Dispenza or Gateway tapes to align my mind, body, and soul.

If I get very hungry during the day, I drink a mix of bone broth and chia seeds for collagen, protein, and vitamins—it keeps me full for hours. I exercise 20 minutes to an hour with yoga, Pilates, weights, or my vibration plate to stay lean and strong. I drink mineral water because it’s free of plastic chemicals and gives my body essential minerals. Remember when Zac Efron’s travel show inspired many during the pandemic? That motivated me to choose mineral water—it's the best for your body.

I eat balanced meals with lots of protein from both plants and animals to keep my body strong. I’m not on a meat-only diet—I just aim for balance. Before bed, I have a small piece or two of dark chocolate. Moderation is important. My favorite right now is Alter Ego Chocolate Panama 88%, because it’s perfectly sweet and bitter. It makes me happy and helps me sleep better.

I know I often say, just do this and that to help you feel better. Being honest, it is freaking hard to make those changes. However, I truly believe that if you love yourself enough and commit to taking it one small step at a time, things become much easier to manage. I didn’t accomplish all of this overnight. It has taken me a long, steady journey to get into the rhythm of these habits. It requires persistence and consistently choosing one good decision over a bad one, every single day.

You Are What You Eat

Just like the title boldly declares, you truly are what you eat. You make the choices, and in doing so, you become those choices. Right now, I’m sitting here in the park patiently waiting for the music in the park to begin.

Surrounding me are food trucks, which I absolutely love. Yet, on this particular journey I’m currently committed to, I’m intentionally limiting my consumption of outside food. I’m taking control of my life, stepping up to give myself the opportunity to nourish and support my healing body in the best possible way. That being said, you are what you eat.

This isn’t about judgment—far from it. I’m simply emphasizing that if you truly want to be healthy, you need to be crystal clear about what actually is healthy. I think some helpful tips for eating out are a must.

  • Anything fried, like fries, chicken nuggets, and onion rings. (I know I'll get hate, but hear me out.) From my experience working in the food industry since I was old enough, most fried foods use unhealthy oils or fats unless they clearly say otherwise.

  • Pick carefully and use it rarely. It’s easy, but keep it for important times or special moments. Less is better.

  • Portion sizes in the U.S. are huge. Abroad, they’re just right. Remember: You don’t have to finish your plate.

  • Look for organic options whenever you can. Many places offer organic food beyond just kale. Organic spots have some of the best food—just saying..
